How much do faceless channels actually make?
Updated September 28, 2026
Less than the screenshots, and more unevenly. Most faceless channels earn nothing for months, a few earn a living, and the difference is mostly the niche, the video length and how long the creator kept posting. Here is how the money actually works, without the income promises.
Nothing until you are in the Partner Program
YouTube pays nothing for ads until a channel is accepted into the Partner Program, which needs 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 long-form watch hours or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days (at the time of writing). Plenty of channels never get there. Any estimate of 'what a channel makes' is only about channels that did.

How Shorts pay
Shorts ads play between videos in the feed, not inside yours, so YouTube pools the ad revenue and splits it. At the time of writing, creators keep 45% of the share allocated to their views. The result is that Shorts usually earn far less per thousand views than long-form videos. Many creators report a few cents to a few tens of cents per thousand Shorts views, varying hugely by country and niche.
That is why so many successful faceless creators use Shorts to be found and long-form videos (8 minutes and up, where mid-roll ads can run) to earn.
Why niche matters more than volume
Advertisers pay more to reach some audiences than others. Finance, business and technology viewers are worth several times what a general entertainment audience is worth, and a channel whose viewers are mostly in the US, UK, Canada or Australia earns more per view than one watched mostly elsewhere. Two channels with the same views can earn ten times apart.
Be wary of income screenshots
A lot of faceless-channel marketing leads with earnings screenshots. They show the few channels that succeeded, rarely say how long it took or how many channels failed first, and are often selling you the course or the tool. A fair expectation: months of consistent posting before any income, and income that depends on your niche far more than on the software you use.
Other ways faceless channels earn once they have an audience: affiliate links for products the niche actually uses, sponsorships, and selling their own digital products.
